Pictures will be tomorrow, Wednesday November 11th. Blackhawk wrestlers should wear jeans to school. Those getting individual pictures will have access to singlets for the picutre. Blackhawks Wrap Up Successful 08-09 Season

The Floyd T Binns Blackhawk Wrestlers wrapped up their season finishing second at the season ending Culpeper Challenge Tournament. The tournament featured the best teams from the regular season in the area. The Blackhawk wrestlers fell just 8 points short of Locust Grove who took home first.

14 Blackhawks placed in the top 3 of their weight class.

Blackhawks Lose Heartbreaker to Louisa

The Blackhawk Wrestlers fell to Louisa tonight in a 38-34 heartbreaker. The Blackhawk Wrestlers have now finished their dual match season 10-1. They have now completed one of the best seasons in school history.

Blackhawks Take CMS for Second Time

The Blackhawk Wrestlers were able to move to 9-0 on the season after beating country rival Culpeper Middle School 43-28.

CMS took the early lead, however, the Blackhawks were able to rely on veteran wrestlers in the middle with pins from Nick Brown, Austin Jenkins, Alex Curnow, and Brett Blankenship.

The Blackhawk Wrestlers will take on Locust Grove, Thursday at Floyd T. Binns at 5:30 pm.

Blackhawks Show Improvment at Rappahanock Quad

The FTB Blackhawk Wrestlers started their season with an exciting win over Warren Co. 65-54. With the match still in memory the Blackhawks faced off against the Wildcats yet again. However, the Blackhawks rose to the challenge showing improvement from earlier in the season earning a 71-48 victory on Saturday.

Gates Bierhuzien and Nick Brown were all able to walk away with wins Saturday after suffering first round pins in the dual earlier this season.

The Blackhawks then took on Rappahanock Middle School winning 90-24.

Saturday's quad finished with FTB taking on Signal Hill of Strausburg. The Blackhawks walked away with a 92-12 victory. 7th grader Austin Jenkins was able to continue his undeafeted streak with a exciting decision over Todd Dean. The loss was the first for Dean in three years of middle school wrestling.

The Blackhawks are now 8-0 and will face off against Culpeper Middle School Tuesday, January 13 at 4:30pm at CMS.

Blackhawks Record 10 Pins Against Rival Louisa

The Blackhawk Wrestlers looked to avenge two losses from the 07-08 season today as they faced off against rival Louisa. Floyd T Binns looked strong from the start jumping out to a 21-0 lead and holding on for an impressive 70-15 victory.

Ten Blackhawks recorded pins from wrestlers including Ryan McAnnich, Nathaniel Aldiva, Drew DePhillips, Glenn Price, Austin Jenkins, Alex Curnow, John Daley, and Travis Jolly. Brett Blankenship, Jamey Lynch, and Jordan Miner were able get quick sticks, pinning their opponents in the first 30 seconds of the match.

Blackhawks Move to 4-0

The Floyd T. Binns Blackhawk Wrestlers moved to 4-0 on the season with a 67-36 victory over Orange County's Prospect Heights Middle School.
First year wrestler and 6th grader Ryan McAninch set the pace for the dual match with tight 8-6 decision in the 70 lbs weight class.
The Blackhawks were lifted to victory with the help of pins from Tim Gonzalez at 90 lbs, Gates Bierhuzien at 103 lbs, Nick Brown at 119 lbs, and Logan Shurina at 130 lbs. Also, recording pins were 8th grader Jamie Lynch 13 seconds into the match at 140 lbs and Brett Blankenship 15 seconds into his match at 152 lbs.
7th Grader Austin Jenkins ran his career record as a Blackhawk to 28-0 with a 12-6 decision wrestling in the 125 lbs.
The Floyd T. Binns Blackhawks next match is home against rival Louisa on Jan. 7 at 5:30.

Blackhawks Place in 8 of 16 Weights at Propect Tourney

The FTB Blackhawks, 3-0 on the season, put in a solid showing a the Prospect Heights Tournament in Orange, VA Saturday. With over 700 matches wrestled through out the day, two Blackhawks finished first in their class. Austin Jenkins continued his undefeated streak with 4 pins yesterday to claim first at 119--doing so with out giving up a point.

8th grader Alex Curnow also recorded four pins in the 130 claiming first. Oddly enough both Alex and Austin pinned their opponents in 53 seconds in their respective finals.

Brett Blankenship fought through a tough final in 155 class claiming second place.

First year wrestlers Ryan McAnninch and Jordan Miner placed third and forth in the 70 lbs and 165lbs divisions. Also placing was Parker Utley, third in the 90lbs, Jamie Lynch, third in the 140lbs, and John Daley, third in the 145lbs.

The Blackhawks put in a strong performance during a long and difficult tournament, but everyone walked away with more experience.

Blackhawk Pull One Out Against CMS

The Blackhawks looked to build on their 2-0 start to the season Thursday night in the gym at Floyd T. Binns. But, this time it would be against cross-town rival Culpeper Middle School.

The Cougars of CMS jumped out to a 29-12 lead, however, things began to change as the middle-weights took the mat. It all came down to Travis Jolly's match, the last match of the dual. Jolly fought through a tough 3 round match and pulled it out 9-4 to secure a Blackhawk Victory of 43-39 over the Cougars.

Surely a great dual and great for wrestling in Culpeper.

Blackhawk Wrestlers Soar at Warren Co.

The Blackhawk Wrestlers started the season with a dominant win over Daniel Morgan 90-6 with many rookie wrestlers walking away with pins.

Things heated up against Warren Co. Middle School as the Wildcats came out to an early lead. However, the Blackhawks fought hard and pulled out some big matches late to secure a team victory to move to 2-0 on the young season. Blackhawks 59 Wildcats 48

Match at Buford Middle School Monday 12/8

Building on their strong performance at Warren Co. Middle School Blackhawk Wrestlers will have an away match at Buford Middle School on Monday, Dec. 8. The school is in Charlottesvile click on the above title for directions at google. Match time is 6:00pm and we should be returning to the school between 9:15 and 9:30. Be sure wrestler return any team gear Monday morning washed!!

Practice will resume its normal schedule...Monday thru Friday 4:00pm to 6:00pm starting tomorrow Monday, December 1st. Wrestlers are expected to be at practice everyday if they intend to wrestle.

Blackhawk wrestlers will practice Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 4:00 to 6:00. There will be no practice until Monday, Dec. 1. However, wrestlers are encouraged to eat right over the break and get some conditioning in before wrestle-offs and our first match next week.
